Gubaek Sikdang 구백식당

Yeosu, Seoul · 34.7387, 127.7320

A government-certified 'centennial shop' facing the ferry terminal, serving two dishes you will struggle to find outside Yeosu: seodae-hoe, a vinegar-sharpened raw sole salad you mix into hot rice, and geumpungsaengi, a small local fish grilled over charcoal. The dining room is plain and the service brisk — this is a working eatery for locals and ferry passengers, not a styled restaurant. Come at lunch, order both specialties to share, and you've had the most Yeosu meal possible in one sitting.

Local context

Locals judge the seodae-hoe by its vinegar tang and stir it straight into rice as makgeolli-sikcho bibimbap; the fish sells out on busy days, so earlier is safer.
