A dry lava gorge running from Hallasan's southern slopes down to the Soesokkak estuary, inside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Residents of Harye village lead small guided treks along the boulder-strewn riverbed — 'naechang' in Jeju dialect — clambering over rocks and pointing out plunge pools, native trees and canyon walls you would never find on your own.
Local context
Book ahead through the Harye eco-village council — treks run about two hours in small groups (10am and 2pm slots, around 20,000 won), with helmets provided and fees going back into the village. Wear real shoes and long sleeves; trips pause after heavy rain when the gorge actually flows.
