Simgok Port and Heonhwaro Coastal Road 심곡항·헌화로
A pocket-sized fishing harbor squeezed beneath the cliffs of an uplifted coastal terrace, one bend south of Jeongdongjin. From the port, the Heonhwaro road runs to Geumjin Port right at wave level — close enough that spray hits the guardrail in rough weather — making it one of the lowest coastal drives in Korea. Simgok is also the starting point of the Badabuchae-gil cliff trail, which follows the terrace face toward Jeongdongjin past fan-shaped rock formations.
Local context
The road section occasionally closes when swells are high, and the Badabuchae-gil trail has set opening hours and a small entry fee — locals come early in the morning when the light hits the cliffs and the road is empty.
