NadeSubok Memorial Tower 수복기념탑
A 1954 monument in a small plaza near the north Gaetbae ferry dock, showing a mother and son gazing north toward the hometown they could no longer reach — funded not by the state but by the refugees themselves. It commemorates the return of Sokcho to South Korean administration after the war, but reads less like a war memorial than a statue of homesickness. Visiting takes five minutes, and it pairs naturally with the Gaetbae hand-pulled ferry ride across to Abai Village on the other bank.
