Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory 속초등대전망대
A working lighthouse on a low bluff at the north end of Sokcho's harbor, with a free observation deck that gives the single best overview of the city: the harbor, both lagoons, the beaches, and the wall of Seoraksan rising behind it all. The climb from the streets below takes about ten minutes on stairs, and clear late afternoons give you the mountains in good light with the sea still bright. It links up on foot with Yeonggeumjeong and the harbor fish stalls, so it slots easily into a half-day around Dongmyeong-dong.
Local context
Despite standing within walking distance of the market and Abai Village, almost no foreign visitors climb up here; locals know it as the one spot that fits the whole city and Seoraksan into a single photo. Check closing time before you go — the deck shuts in the early evening, so it is a daytime view rather than a night one.
