Sokcho, Seoul · 38.1985, 128.5835

A wooden-boat shipyard founded in 1952 on the shore of Cheongchoho Lake, reborn as a cafe and small boat museum with the original slipway running down to the water. Order coffee in the former shipwright family's house, wander among hull ribs and launch rails, and look across the lake to the ridgeline of Seoraksan. It is a ten-minute taxi ride from the central market, best in the soft light of late afternoon.

Local context

Young Koreans know it as one of the country's signature industrial-heritage conversions, but weekday mornings are still quiet enough to have the slipway to yourself. The outdoor deck by the water is the seat worth waiting for.
