Haksapyeong Sundubu Village (Kongkkot Village) 학사평 순두부마을 (콩꽃마을)
A roadside village of tofu restaurants below Ulsanbawi Rock where the soft tofu is curdled with East Sea seawater instead of factory brine, a method a local grandmother started in 1965. Order chodang-style sundubu, which arrives bubbling in a stone pot with a spread of side dishes, and add the fried tofu if you're hungry after hiking. The village sits on the main road between Sokcho and Seoraksan's park entrance, so it slots naturally before or after a mountain day.
Local context
This is where Sokcho people take out-of-town guests; regulars eat sundubu plain with just a spoon of soy seasoning first to taste the seawater sweetness before adding anything spicy.
