Hwawon Dongsan & Samunjin Naruteo 화원동산·사문진나루터

Daegu, Seoul · 35.8131, 128.4824

A riverside hill at the meeting point of the Geumho and Nakdong rivers, with a lookout at an old beacon site above and a recreated 19th-century tavern village at the old Samunjin ferry landing below. Climb to the top for the two-river sunset, then come down for pajeon and makgeolli at the thatched-roof jumak houses by the water; river cruises also depart from the landing. It sits in Dalseong-gun on the southwestern edge of Daegu, about 40 minutes from downtown by subway Line 1 plus a short bus or taxi ride.

Local context

Samunjin is remembered as the spot where Korea's first piano arrived by river in 1900, which the village plays up with a piano monument; locals time visits for late afternoon since the Nakdong sunset from the hilltop is considered among Daegu's best.
