Seonso Historic Shipyard Site 선소유적
A quiet cove believed to be where turtle ships were built and repaired during the 1592 Japanese invasions, with the original stone-ringed dry dock, called a gulgang, still intact at the water's edge. It is free, open-air, and usually empty — a short seaside stroll takes you past 430-year-old naval engineering with explanatory panels along the shore. The site sits tucked between apartment blocks in Yeosu's newer district, completely off the standard tourist loop.
Local context
For residents it is essentially a neighborhood waterfront park; visit around sunset when locals walk the cove and the sheltered geography that made it an ideal hidden shipyard becomes obvious. It makes a good 'field visit' after seeing Jinnamgwan for the Yi Sun-sin story.
