The grave of Queen Seondeok, who ruled Silla from 632 to 647 as Korea's first reigning queen, rests partway up Nangsan hill on a mound ringed with a stone retaining base. Getting there is half the experience: a ten-minute walk through a grove of old, crooked red pines that was protected by royal decree in the Silla era. Signboards are minimal, so read up on her story before you go.
Local context
Korean visitors often link it on foot with the Sacheonwangsa temple site and the Neungjitap pagoda ruins at the base of the same hill; photographers come early when low light cuts through the pines.
