Gwangchigi Beach 광치기해변

Jeju, Seoul · 33.4525, 126.9242

At low tide this black-sand beach drains back to expose broad lava shelves coated in bright green algae, with Seongsan Ilchulbong rising directly behind them — the frame photographers line up for at dawn. At high tide the rocks disappear entirely, so check a tide table and aim for the couple of hours around low water. The beach also marks the end of Olle Route 1 and the start of Route 2.

Local context

Spring tides expose the widest stretch of rock; locals check the Seongsan tide table before going, since the green terraces vanish completely at high water.
