Gwanggyo Lake Park & Freiburg Observatory 광교호수공원·프라이부르크 전망대

Suwon, Seoul · 37.2806, 127.0660

A 6.5km boardwalk loop around two lakes ringed by the apartment towers of Gwanggyo new town, with a free 33m observation tower on a hill named after Suwon's German sister city, Freiburg. Walk part of the lit lakeside loop after sunset, then ride up the tower — open into the late evening — for the only elevated view of both lakes and the skyline glowing on the water. The park is a short bus or taxi hop from Gwanggyo Jungang Station, a world away from the old fortress city most visitors stick to.

Local context

This is where Gwanggyo residents actually spend their evenings — the boardwalk fills with joggers and strollers after dinner, while almost nobody bothers to climb to the free tower above them.
