Renovated hanok houses along the western edge of the Daereungwon tomb park now hold coffee roasters, dessert bars, and small craft and stationery shops, with grassy royal burial mounds rising right behind the tiled rooflines. It is Gyeongju's busiest street on weekends, and it works best as a starting point — most of the quieter lanes and photo alleys of the old town branch off from here.
Local context
Most shops open around 11 a.m., so locals who want the street to themselves walk it before ten while the tombs next door are still empty; the better cafes tend to hide one alley off the main strip.
