Noodle Culture Street 국수문화거리

Jeju, Seoul · 33.5067, 126.5300

A city-designated street of noodle houses near the Samseonghyeol shrine, most specializing in gogi-guksu: wheat noodles in a milky pork-bone broth topped with slices of boiled black pork. Several veteran kitchens sit within a couple of minutes' walk of one another, so comparing broths bowl by bowl is the whole point of coming. Portions are large and prices stay modest.

Local context

Gogi-guksu was the dish served at island weddings and village feasts, which is why locals treat these bowls as everyday comfort food rather than a tourist specialty.
