The most relic-dense walking route on Namsan: from three grassy royal mounds a pine-forest trail climbs past a headless stone Buddha, a six-figure group incised into rock like a line drawing, and a large seated Buddha carved high on a cliff near Sangseonam hermitage. The out-and-back to the hermitage runs about 2.7 kilometers on a well-worn path, and the trailhead sits on a regular city bus line from downtown Gyeongju.
