Yongjang Valley 용장골

The valley route up Namsan's quieter south side follows a stream past the site of Yongjangsa temple, where the fifteenth-century writer Kim Si-seup withdrew to write what is often called Korea's first novel. The payoff stands above the temple site: a Silla three-story pagoda planted straight onto bare bedrock at the ridgeline, so the entire mountain below reads as its pedestal.
Local context
Photographers come up from the Yongjang-ri side in late afternoon, when low light rakes across the pagoda and hikers from the busier Samneung side have mostly turned back.
