Yangyang's town market trades daily but swells into a hundred-stall five-day fair on dates ending in 4 and 9, when farmers from the surrounding valleys arrive with mountain greens, dried fish and seasonal produce. From late September into October the stalls fill with songi, the prized wild pine mushrooms the county is known for, and their scent carries through the whole market.
