Democracy Park 민주공원
A hilltop park on the Sanbokdoro ridge commemorating Busan's role in Korea's democracy movement, including the 1979 Bu-Ma protests, with a memorial hall and long views over the harbor. In mid-to-late April its dense double-flowering cherry trees form some of the city's fullest blossom canopies, well after the regular cherry season has ended.
Local context
Because the double cherries peak about two weeks after Korea's main cherry front, locals come here when petals are gone everywhere else; entry is free, and the war-memorial Jungang Park shares the same ridge.
