Dongnae Market is the direct descendant of a Joseon-era five-day market, still doing its original job of feeding the old town. Pajeon griddles, fresh-noodle stalls, and produce vendors fill a compact arcade that sits entirely outside the usual tourist circuit. Its position makes it a natural lunch stop on a half-day walk taking in Dongnae Eupseong fortress and the Bokcheon tombs.

Local context

Locals plan the old-Dongnae walk around this market: fortress walls and tombs first, then noodles or pajeon here. The market pace is unhurried compared with Jagalchi — this is grocery shopping, not a performance.
