Igyeondae Pavilion 이견대
A modest pavilion on a bluff above the coast road marks the spot where, chronicles from 681 record, King Sinmun gazed out at the offshore rocks holding his father Munmu — said to be the world's only underwater royal tomb. The present pavilion is a modern reconstruction on the excavated site, and its raised floor faces the sunrise head-on across the East Sea.
Local context
Tripods pack Bongil beach across the road at dawn, but locals know the pavilion above stays nearly empty — the same view from a higher angle, without the crowd.
