Yangnam Columnar Joint Coastal Walk 양남 주상절리 파도소리길

Gyeongju, Seoul · 35.6864, 129.4742

A 1.7-kilometer boardwalk between Eupcheon and Haseo harbors runs directly over beds of basalt columns left by ancient lava — some standing upright, some lying in stacked bundles like cut timber, and one rare formation spreading into the sea in a near-perfect fan. Interpretive decks and a spiral viewing tower make the geology easy to read, and the flat planking means street shoes are fine.

Local context

Start from the Eupcheon harbor end, where the lookout tower and village murals cluster; in the afternoon the sun swings behind the viewing deck, lighting the fan formation face-on for photos.
