Facing the old Gyeongju station, Seongdong is the market where residents actually buy their groceries, and its signature is the shared-table buffet alley: small restaurants that set out fifteen to twenty home-style dishes — jeon, seasoned vegetables, stews — for one low set price. Between the produce rows you will also find local staples like burdock gimbap and Gyeongju-style blood sausage. English signage is close to zero, which is part of the point.

Local context

The buffet alley fills with market workers around noon, which is the easiest time for an outsider to slot in; regulars grab burdock gimbap to eat on the walk.
