Beopheungsa Seven-story Brick Pagoda 안동 법흥사지 칠층전탑
Korea's tallest and oldest brick pagoda, a seventeen-meter, seven-story tower from the Unified Silla period, stands wedged in a lane between the Imcheonggak mansion wall and the riverside levee. The temple it belonged to vanished centuries ago, so this designated National Treasure now rises straight out of an ordinary residential block with no grounds around it — easy to walk past without noticing.
Local context
It is two minutes on foot from Imcheonggak, and the appeal for locals is exactly the oddness: a 1,200-year-old national treasure sitting in what amounts to someone's backyard.
