NadeHanbyeok Tunnel 한벽터널
This short rail tunnel was bored in 1931 directly beneath Hanbyeokdang, a scholars' pavilion above the stream — locals hold that the colonial railway was routed there deliberately to cut the site's geomantic energy. The trains are long gone, and the tunnel is now the darkest, coolest hundred meters of the riverside walking path at the hanok village's edge, free and open around the clock.
Local context
In summer locals use the tunnel as a natural air-conditioner mid-walk; take the steps up to Hanbyeokdang pavilion just above it for the view the railway once interrupted.
