Trading beside Pungnammun Gate for over a century, this market changes personality by floor and by clock: bean-sprout soup counters at street level from morning, a second-floor arcade of young makers and cafes from the afternoon, and open-air night-market stalls on Friday and Saturday evenings. Most visitors only ever see the ground-floor soup restaurants and move on.
Local context
The second-floor Cheongnyeon Mall was the original youth-led traditional-market revival in Korea, and Jeonju people still point to it as the template; the night market runs roughly 5 to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
