NadeHwaseong Haenggung Palace 화성행궁 (달빛화담 야간개장)

The largest temporary royal palace in Korea, built in the 1790s by King Jeongjo for his visits to his father's tomb, and the anchor of any Suwon itinerary. Beyond the daytime visit, come back for what most foreign visitors miss: the free Muye24gi martial-arts performance in the forecourt (seasonal schedule) and the 'Dalbit Hwadam' night opening on weekend evenings from spring to early November, when lantern-lit courtyards and media art projected on the main hall transform the palace for a tiny entry fee. Entry is free if you arrive wearing hanbok, and the palace sits at the heart of Haenggung-dong, surrounded by the craft street and cafe alleys.
Local context
The palace itself is well known, but the night opening and martial-arts shows are promoted almost entirely in Korean, so evenings here are dominated by local couples and families. Night-opening tickets can sell out on fine autumn weekends — book ahead online rather than walking up.
