Manhyujeong Pavilion 만휴정

Andong, Seoul · 36.4104, 128.9099

A pavilion built around 1500 by the retired scholar Kim Gye-haeng as his resting place in old age, perched above a broad sheet of waterfall in the Mukgye valley. The narrow plank bridge crossing the stream to its gate is instantly recognizable to fans of the drama Mr. Sunshine, which filmed a famous scene here. A ten-minute walk up the valley path from the parking area, with a small admission fee collected at the entrance.

Local context

Weekend mid-mornings bring a short queue of couples re-creating the drama shot on the bridge; on a weekday afternoon you may share the valley with no one but the sound of the falls. The pavilion is still kept up by the scholar's descendants.
