Palbok Art Factory 팔복예술공장

Jeonju, Seoul · 35.8613, 127.1009

A cassette-tape factory that ran from 1979 to 1991 in Jeonju's Palbok industrial district, reopened in 2018 as a contemporary art center with its rusted trusses and saw-tooth roofline left deliberately intact. Rotating exhibitions, artist studios, and a container cafe fill the old production halls, and most shows are free. Closed on Mondays.

Local context

Weekends draw Jeonju families for the children's art programs, but on weekday mornings you can have whole exhibition halls to yourself. It sits among working factories with little around it, so the city bus or a short taxi ride beats walking.
