This 1926 red-brick residence served as President Syngman Rhee's official house while Busan acted as South Korea's provisional capital during the Korean War. The office, reception room, and living quarters are preserved as they were, and a modern annex tells the story of the refugee-swollen wartime city. Admission is free and a visit takes under an hour.

Local context

Most foreign visitors never learn that Busan ran the country for three years of the war; locals pair this stop with Ami-dong and the other hillside neighborhoods that refugees built in Seo-gu.
