Incheon's oldest modern market and the birthplace of dakgangjeong, the sweet-and-spicy fried chicken now sold all over Korea. Arrive before mid-afternoon to beat the line at the original dakgangjeong stall, and try gonggal-bbang, the hollow crisp bread that is another local signature. The market sits in the middle of the old downtown, so it works well as a lunch base before walking the open-port district and Gaehangno.

Local context

Locals order dakgangjeong to go in boxes rather than eating in — the queue moves faster than it looks. Weekday mornings are the calmest time to actually browse the produce and side-dish stalls that most visitors walk past.
